Declaring/Changing a Major or Minor

To declare your major

At this time there is no application or form required to change your major. Students should meet with an advisor to learn about the courses required to meet the new major and any prerequisites involved. At the appointment the major will be updated. For programs with restrictions, majors may be declared as pre-major status until full status is met.

Pre-Major Status

Most majors have specific requirements to achieve full-major status. These may include, but are not limited to, GPA, course work, and auditions. Ask your advisor if you are unsure of  these requirements. Pre-major status may prevent you from registering for restricted courses.

Failure to attain full-major status in a timely fashion may prolong your expected graduation date.

To declare you minor

If your major is in the College of Fine Arts and Communication you can declare your minor during an advising appointment. If your major is not in our college you will have to declare it with your college advisor or advising center. Advising is available for any of our minors.
