We hate to toot our own horn, but Points of Pride highlights the achievements our Students, Faculty and Staff are gaining in their fields. 



The School of Art and Design

Promotes the understanding of art in culture by providing a learning environment that advances students’ critical and creative thinking, encourages diverse perspectives and nurtures individual artistic expression. 

Communication Studies

Students are skilled speakers, researchers, writers, problem-solvers and leaders. Our students create, transmit, and analyze the messages, which shape our personal, professional and public lives. 

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication

Is one of the most innovative journalism and mass communication programs in the nation. They are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, which signifies excellence and commitment to high standards in professional journalism and mass communication education.

The School of Music

Proudly provides an intensive and nurturing environment that emphasizes student- faculty interaction. A long-standing, fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the School of Music has 90 Faculty who reach more than 500 students who perform in more than 30 ensembles.

Jenny Buschhorn- Specializes in Account Planning and Advertising Campaign Development. She has worked at GSD&M, McGarrah-Jesse with high profile clients such as Southwest Airlines, JCPenny, Whataburger, Shiner Beer and more. Mrs. Buschhorn’s teaching philosophy is to give students the opportunity to work with real world clients and gain real world experience. #beamentor

SXTXState is a project of the graduate program in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to attend an event emphasizing many of the concepts covered in classes and to see many of the big thinkers in media.
